Biography
Aurora Pellizzi was born in Mexico City in 1983 and grew up between New York City and Morelos, Mexico. She studied Art at The Cooper Union School in New York (BFA, 2010) and at New York University (BFA, 2005). Her work has been exhibited in Colombia, France, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Her most recent solo exhibition TRANSFIGURATION was presented in October, 2021 at Canada Gallery in New York City. Pellizzi’s publication TRANSFIGURATION was printed by Can Can Press in Mexico City on the occasion of the exhibition.

Pellizzi’s work combines formal precepts of painting and sculpture with craft techniques. Her practice is informed by pre-industrial textile processes and materials, from natural dyeing to back-strap loom weaving. Technical constraints give way to textural, dimensional shapes and forms. Fiber is used both as a pictorial field and as the embodiment of the subject it represents.
