Marco Stanke

Marco Stanke is born 1987 in Rosenheim, Germany. He lives and works in Munich, Germany. Stanke studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts, in the class of Pia Fries, in Munich, Germany. Marco Stanke‘s Kollektiv is neither a painting nor an object / it is a painting as well as an object. The forms on canvas making up the object are all different in nature - all are equally called parts - are partly flexible, crooked, squeezing into the room, hanging on the wall or standing on the floor. The actual pictorial act is the hanging: wall and room are turning into a canvas when the artist himself is placing the elements within the room. He is taking decisions according to compositional criteria and is seeking a balance between the individual objects. Following Kollektiv’s idea of a non-static work, his recent "Analphabets" are a group of modular "picture kits“. He is also part of the band “Die Hartjungs“ known for playing "Screamo-PsyWave-Disco-Trash-Haircut-Impro-Noise-Punk“, a term attributed to the band by Vivienne Westwood.

Stanke’s recent solo shows include: 'Miracle Macho', Michael Ullrich & Marco Stanke, BÜHLERS, Fürth, 2017;  'BOYS ON APHRODITE', Marco Stanke & Michael Ullrich, Akademie Galerie Nürnberg, 2016; 'B-seite', Edel Extra, Nuremberg, 2015.
